Lesotho PostBank, committed to fostering educational growth and community development, proudly sponsored the 2024 National Spelling Bee Competition Grand Finale, hosted by the Spelling Bee Association of Lesotho (SBALE) on the 20th of September at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru. As part of its dedication to supporting the Quality Education Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 4), the bank contributed over M38,000 towards trophies, medals, and T-shirts for the event.
The competition attracted an impressive 148 spellers, including 51 males and 97 females, from 45 schools across 8 districts and 3 countries: Lesotho, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. The breakdown of participation included:
- Total Spellers: 148
- Male Spellers: 51
- Female Spellers: 97
- Participating Schools: 45 (6 high schools and 38 primary schools)
- Independent Spellers: 8
This year’s event celebrated academic achievement, literacy, and the dedication of young spellers, promoting a healthy spirit of competition and learning.
