Lesotho PostBank officially launched its new branch in Mokhotlong on 6 May 2025, located in the KQS Complex. The ceremony was officiated by the Right Honourable Prime Minister Ntsokoane Sam Matekane, accompanied by Senior Ministers and Dignitaries. Chief Sales Officer a.i. Ms. Lineo Masupha confirmed that the branch had already started operating on 5th May 2025 and highlighted the importance of bringing banking services closer to the people of Mokhotlong. All PostBank services including savings, loans, and financial literacy will be available to both individuals and businesses. The new Managing Director of Lesotho PostBank, Mr. Mopeli Mokhachane, expressed joy over the branch’s opening and reminded the public of the bank’s 20-year history. He noted its growth from using traditional passbooks to now offering modern products such as VISA cards, mobile banking, and KHETSI.
Mr. Mokhachane emphasized that the bank belongs to the Basotho and urged the public to support it. He underscored Lesotho PostBank’s unique position in responding swiftly to community needs and its contributions to sectors like agriculture and tourism, especially in a farming dependent district like Mokhotlong. The Right Honourable Prime Minister also addressed the community, thanking them for accepting the new branch and encouraging them to treat it as their own, as it reduces the burden of long distance travel to access banking services. As part of its social responsibility efforts, the bank donated umbrellas to local vendors, wool blankets to shepherds, and wheelchairs to three residents with disabilities. The event was attended by several Ministers, including the Minister of Environment, Hon. Letsema Adontsi, and the Minister of Trade and Business Development, Hon. Mokhethi Shelile, who both praised the initiative.
