Lesotho PostBank has cheque intermediation services for Government cheques, local corporate cheques and foreign corporate cheques. This service is not available for personal cheques. Each category of cheques has a different fee structure.
Only account holders may transact with cheques.

• Charges and Conditions

4.1. Local Cheques
The service is available to account holders:
-Cheques are cleared within five (5) days; however, nine (9) days may be required in the case of branches outside Maseru.
-Applicable fees are M10.00 + 0.85% of the value of the cheque amount.
-The maximum amount that may be charged is M510.00.
-Cash will only be available when the cheque is cleared.
-Government salary cheques do not attract any waiting time restrictions. Funds can be accessed immediately.

4.2 Bank guarantee cheques
The service is available to account holders and is for free

4.3 Foreign Cheques
This service is available to account-holders only
-Cheques are cleared within 21 days. However, additional days may be required in the case of branches outside Maseru.
-Applicable fees are M30.00 + 0.92% of the value of the chequed amount.
-The maximum amount that may be charged is M1, 030.00.

4.4 Opening of Accounts without Cash Deposit
Only Government, Insurance and Bank issued cheques may be accepted as deposits for new accounts
-Cheque fees will be deducted from the cheque amount.
-Cash will only be available upon cheque clearance and after the savings book has been issued.
